1.Congratulations on achieving such an amazing feat.   Tell  us  a  bit  about  yourself. Please  also  tell  us  your individual  marks  in  each subject.

Thanks a lot. My individual subject marks are as follows –

Patho micro 169

Pharmac.      164

DMS              154

Prostho.         69

Cons.              76

Grand total 632/800

2.So, when all of  this  is  new  and the  rest  of  us  are  still  busy  figuring the  head and tail  of  the  subject,  how  did you tackle  and master  the  syllabus?

About mastering the subject, even I am finding a trick to master it. But I feel rather than memorising anything it’s better to understand it to the depth. And besides the support of our college staff was of great help to me.

3.Did you have  a  set  schedule, a time  table  that  you stuck to?  What  were  the  daily  hours  that  you put in self study  ?

I did not have any kind of time table. It totally depends on my mood. I am more of a quality person than quantity. And the most important thing I feel is having a pleasant mind before starting your studies so never give up on any kind of fun activity which makes u happy.

And talking about time table, I prefer to study early in the morning after having plenty amount of sleep rather than burning the midnight oil.

4.Did you have  a  different  methodology  of  tackling  the  subjects?  Any  special  notes  that  you prepared?

Yes I did prepare my own notes. Made them colourful and I basically focused on preparing charts and put them up on every wall I could find in my room. So it keeps on flashing on your eyes every now and then and it becomes very easy.

5.Do you have any  special  pointers  for  specific  subjects?  The  do’s  and don’ts  of  it?

For Patho, I made flowcharts and concentrated on histopath diagrams. And for pharmac, I had made mnemonics for almost every drug and wrote them in the textbook. For eg-

6.Was there  any  help  that  you acquired while  exam  preparation?  Like  any  visual  aids  any  professional guidance?  Or  those  little  tit  bits  that  the  professors  tell  us  but  none  other than the  toppers  pay  attention to? Please  share  with us.

My only special aid was The Internet. There is a lot of cool stuff online which makes studies interesting like these mnemonics. I watched a lot of videos on YouTube about the pathophysiology of any condition. It is like Drishyam. If you have SEEN IT U GOTTA REMEMBER IT.

And our college staff is not at all bias. They give the same attention and the same suggestions to each and every student.

7.How vital  is  the  Question bank during  exams?  Does  it  come  highly  recommended  or  you advice  thorough reading  of  the  text  and having confound knowledge  of  the  subject?

My personal opinion about the question bank is very practical. It plays a great role on the very previous day of the examination. You just cannot sit and read each and every line a day before the exam. But but but…never open the question bank before your prelims. Question bank is a thing which is meant just so you master the important questions and not the syllabus. So reading the textbook thoroughly at least thrice is what I highly recommend.

8.How do you propose  the  students study and what kind  of  discipline  should be  followed during  exam  time?

The only discipline you need to follow is sleep on time and eat on time and you are good to go. Listen to music, watch TV, go for a walk but DON’T keep texting anyone. It is very distracting.

9.Could you give  some  important  pointers  on  Exam  writing skills?  And also  how  should  one  prepare  for  a practical  exam?

Exam writing skills, I don’t have any special tips of my own. What I will tell, are the age old methods which every professors keeps on telling every now and then.

Write headings, draw well labelled diagrams as and when possible and my personal suggestion is i always tend to attempt the LAQs first so that ur mind is not fatigued and half of the tension is released. if u write it well in the beginning it gives a good impression to the examiner as well.

10.Any special  tricks  and tacts  for  the  students  of  your  college  who  would be  reading this?

Tips and tricks… Umm….solve 10 mcqs everyday from the previous question papers. And write the imp points told by the professor in some different ink so that while revising you can save time just by reading the highlights.

11.So, do you have  any  parting thoughts?

Last but not the least, I would also like to mention that a good parental support is highly important and my parents have always provided me with a conducive atmosphere to study.
