summer 2016

IV YEAR Topper

1.Congratulations on achieving such an amazing feat.   Tell  us  a  bit  about  yourself. Please  also  tell  us  your individual  marks  in  each subject.

1.Thank you. Hi I am Mamta P. Ladhe from Muktainagar, dist. Jalgaon.

In 2012 I got admission in ACPM dental college,Dhule & there my dream journey began.

Marks:

Oral surgery-138/200

Cons & Endo-161/200

Prostho-137/200

Pedo-137/200

2.So, when all of  this  is  new  and the  rest  of  us  are  still  busy  figuring the  head and tail  of  the  subject,  how  did you tackle  and master  the  syllabus?

2.I have always been a person who likes to read a lot of books. Apart from that I was always inquisitive to know more about any subject other than what I was being taught in the class.I always started reading clinical topics & the ones which I found interesting to me.This always boosted me to complete reading the whole subjects.

While reading highlighting the texts and preparing short notes about it proved to be beneficial.

3.Did you have  a  set  schedule, a time  table  that  you stuck to?  What  were  the  daily  hours  that  you put in self study  ?

3.Being a dental student I also know the physiological and psychological working of a person(just a joke). So I took it easy on me and never forced myself through the impermissible schedule and time tables.

Another  important thing to be mentioned here would be, I never studied against my will and mood.

So to sum up, it would be about 4 hrs of reading each day with small refreshing breaks after an hour or two.Hey but this was only during regular working days.

The preparatory leave was a complete different scenario.

4.Did you have  a  different  methodology  of  tackling  the  subjects?  Any  special  notes  that  you prepared?

4.Yes definitely. I prepared notes as mentioned before bit there was no particular method of tacking any subject in special.

As I knew it was not possible for me to revise the complete subject just a day before exam. So, then these notes were very helpful.

5.Do you have any  special  pointers  for  specific  subjects?  The  do’s  and don’ts  of  it?

5.Give equal importance to all the subjects.

“Someone had once told me, it is very useful to read synopsis for each subject from the mcqs books for pg entrance.

6.Was there  any  help  that  you acquired while  exam  preparation?  Like  any  visual  aids  any  professional guidance?  Or  those  little  tit  bits  that  the  professors  tell  us  but  none  other than the  toppers  pay  attention to? Please  share  with us.

6.Someone had once told me, it is very useful to read synopsis for each subject from the mcqs books for pg entrance.

This made easier for me to solve mcqs and it is always better to watch videos of surgery before reading about it to make it more understandable.

The professors know better about what to read and from where.I read different books that too not just for different subjects but for different subtopics also.

7.How vital  is  the  Question bank during  exams?  Does  it  come  highly  recommended  or  you advice  thorough reading  of  the  text  and having confound knowledge  of  the  subject?

7.I firmly advice thorough reading of the text. It will never be a good option to keep your knowledge too confused to the precised questions given in the question bank.

I would recommend all my fellow pupils to have this question books read only after you are confident to know the subject very well because not just sticking to the question books has helped me to solve the mcqs better but also to answer the questions that weren’t mentioned in these question banks.

8.How do you propose  the  students study and what kind  of  discipline  should be  followed during  exam  time?

8.”Peaceful early morning study- My key to success”.

Abraham Lincoln quoted- “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first 4 sharpening the axe” Keeping this in mind I always gave more importance to regular studies than to drain my brain all at once during the tedious exam period. I have a strong belief that one should be completely stress free during final performance.

9.Could you give  some  important  pointers  on  Exam  writing skills?  And also  how  should  one  prepare  for  a practical  exam?

9. I am not saying that handwriting should be like pearls to the eyes but who would not like to read stuff that are readable and presented well.

Always try to highlight the keywords by underlining or puting them in a box.

And don’t worry much about practical examination, prepare very well for the theory exam and during the posting, we are well versed with our practical knowledge to comfortably appear for the same.

10.Any special  tricks  and tacts  for  the  students  of  your  college  who  would be  reading this?

10. Do study regularly and avoid more casual nature and misbehavior in the professional college.

11.So, do you have  any  parting thoughts?  Like  disclosing that  secret  mantra  that  you  chanted  or  that  special brand of  energy  drink  you savoured?  Just kidding.  Seriously  though, anything at  all?

11.” Amhi ani amcha baap” a book by Dr. Narendra Jadhav ,ex-vise chancellor of Pune university spoke about his father’s advice to him-” I don’t know exactly what you are doing, but just remember whatever you do you have to be one amongst topmost in it” My father inspired me for the same and then on I didn’t wish to look back unless I was satisfied with the success.

And ha! the reversed osmosized drinking water of my college would be the branded special drink.Just kidding!…  I have read and experienced myself that water helps alot to being refreshed.
