1.Congratulations on achieving such an amazing feat. Tell us a bit about yourself. Please also tell us your individual marks in each subject.
I am Sakshi H. Gujrathi. BDS Student. From ACPM Dental College Dhule.
My marks:
Anatomy 146
Physiology & Biochemistry 144
Dental anatomy & histology 136
2.So, when all of this is new and the rest of us are still busy figuring the head and tail of the subject, how did you tackle and master the syllabus?
It was also new for me but as I read & tried to understand, I became familiar with the subjects. But in case you are not getting the subject, don’t give up. You could always ask someone for help.
3.Did you have a set schedule, a time table that you stuck to? What were the daily hours that you put in self study ?
No. I never used to make a time table but yes l had a fixed schedule for studying in my mind. I think it works differently for every person. And no, I had no specific hours for studying.
4.Do you have any special pointers for specific subjects?
For anatomy we should be more focused on diagrams. Your diagram speaks more than what you write. You should understand the subject.
Physiology : diagrams are imp. Mechanism should be understood & learnt. Bhalani question bank is useful but l think first you should understand the subject and then go for preparation of subjects according to exam view.
Biochemistry is quite easy subject there are some topics that we should be more focused like vitamins.; enzymes; metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, proteins; minerals
5.Did you have a different methodology of tackling the subjects? Any special notes that you prepared?
My seniors used to tell me that you should study according to your methodology. Don’t use others way of studying. You will find your own method during studying.
6.How do you propose the students study and what kind of discipline should be followed during exam time?
There is nothing like discipline during exam time. You study & you have to study it might be because of pressure or anything else.
Just go for studies but be healthy.
7.Could you give some important pointers on Exam writing skills? And also how should one prepare for a practical exam?
Your paper should be neat & clean, all the aspects of question should be covered. Underline the imp or highlighting aspects of answers.
One imp thing is don’t leave any question in exam, just write something related to it.
For practicals, your theory should be clear and answer with confidence.
8.So, do you have any parting thoughts? Like disclosing that secret mantra that you chanted or that special brand of energy drink you savoured? Just kidding. Seriously though, anything at all?
No, there is nothing like a secret mantra.
But one thing l want to tell you that as it is a professional field you should be always hungry of knowledge. We should exam oriented but first be knowledgeable.
