Manas Khegde mhcet topper

1. Congratulations on achieving such an amazing feat. Tell us a bit about yourself. Please also tell us your individual marks in each subject.

 Phy 43
Bio 99
Chem 49
Did my FYJC and SYJC in PACE JUNIOR college
Currently studying in lokmanya tilak municipal medical college 1st year MBBS

2. So how did you manage to master the syllabus while so many of us were just figuring how to

study?

For biology reading each and every line from text as soon as a chp is done in class

Same for inorganic chemistry

Phy and physical chemistry practicing as many sums from reference books, and by hearting formulae (also its derivation)
Organic chemistry mein practising in writing, each and every reaction

3.Which all reference books did you refer to?

Phy I used marvel for chemistry text back questions

Bio no need of any book (for MHCET at least)

4.Did you have a set schedule,a time table that you stuck to? What were the daily hours that you put in self study ?

Yes like avg 4-5 hrs during college days and 8-9 hrs on holidays
First half time I did phy next half chem and bio

5.Did you have a specific strategy to tackle each subject?

No

6.Did you refer to some notes?

 Class notes
And whatever extra concepts and formulae were there in marvel, I referred those

7. Do you have any suggestions for your juniors regarding the mistakes you made during your preparation, that they can avoid?

Biology needs a lot of reading and revision as we tend to forget what we have read. And yes , silly mistakes , like not reading the question carefully and losing marks unnecessarily

8. Was there any help that you acquired while exam preparation? Like any visual aids any professional guidance? Or those little tit bits that the professors tell us but none other than the toppers pay attention to? Please share with us.

No
But yes ,1 thing  according to me
Solving many papers , using a timer

9. Okay and you solved all the papers thoroughly and solved every doubt?

Yes, At pace we have facilities everyday for doubt clearing.. If it was not possible to go to college some day, the teachers cleared all doubts through WhatsApp also. It is very essential to get all the doubts cleared because you may never know if the same question turns up and then you regret it even more.

10. How many papers did you solve?

1 month prior to exam, 25-30. Pace kept many test series and I sincerely gave all.

11. How vital is the Question bank during exams? Does it come highly recommended or you advice thorough reading of the text and having confound knowledge of the subject?

I advice thorough reading of the text and having confound knowledge of the subject.

12. Could you give some important pointers on Exam writing skills?

Phy chem was one paper , chem hardly has 3-4 numericals so chemistry should be completed as quickly as possible so that for physics u get much time coz phy has mostly numerals and no direct question.
Bio , though takes far less than 90 mins, utilize all the time because all you have to do is carefully read the question and answer, so you cannot afford to lose marks there.
And yes, if you don’t know an anwer just skip it move ahead.

13. Would you like to give any tips or suggestion from your side that really helped improve your performance?

I would just say that MHTCET is not very tough, it’s all about reading the HSC textbooks very very properly because each and every thing comes from there. Physics is a problem for many. I solved as many questions I could, from Marvel, Textback, and other standard reference books and also pace papers and got each and every doubt cleared.
